The first time I visited Paris was a combination of traveling solo and participating in a retreat. Intentionally, I arrived a few days early to experience Paris alone before joining the other travelers in my retreat group. During the few days of experiencing Paris for the first time by myself, I could only compare it to an amusement park, where there was so much to do and so much fun to be had. Below you will find a list of unique things to do in Paris that I experienced as a solo traveler, along with some that I experienced with a small group.
Ride in a motorcycle sidecar
Zip through the congested Paris streets on a sidecar of a motorcycle! It will give you a unique view of the city and allow you to experience places that larger vehicles may not be able to access. Plus, it is enjoyable! (I recommend: @retro_tour_paris )
Hire a Professional Photographer
Hire a professional photographer and have a fabulous photoshoot taken! I had so much fun getting dressed up and taking photos around Paris with the photographer, @iheartparisfr. I cherish the professional photos taken, as they captured my joy, excitement, and gratitude while on my trip. Along with the photos I had taken at the Eiffel Tower, I also participated in a boudoir photo shoot. The boudoir photoshoot with @ianholmesphotography was entirely out of my element, but it was a wonderful experience that allowed me to show myself love and compassion.
Take a French Cooking Class
Take an authentic French cooking class with a talented French chef! One of my favorite meals of my trip was the one I cooked during my cooking class. It was such a fun interactive experience, plus you get a copy of the recipes so you can make the dishes back home. (I recommend: @lacuisineparis ).
Go to a Concert
The day I arrived in Paris, I attended the Jimmy Buffett concert at La Cigale. I showed up at the tailgate line alone and not knowing what to expect. I soon realized that purchasing that ticket was the best thing I could have done, as I proceeded to have the time of my life! I made so many new friends that day and was so grateful that I decided to go to the concert by myself. You can read more about my experience here: She Went to Paris… A Jimmy Buffett Story – One Girl Travel LLC.
Some of the other activities I enjoyed during my trip to Paris were:
- Learning the Metro
- Touring the Jardin du Luxembourg
- Viewing the incredible art at Musée Rodin
- Finding the best falafel in the Le Marais district
- Cruise the Seine river
The most important thing about trying new things is to embrace the fact that it is a new experience. Not everything will go as planned, or you may not enjoy something… but at least you tried, and now you know what you like and dislike.
What are some unique things you’ve experienced while traveling? I’d love it if you could share in the comments!
